5ABBEY LINCOLN IS A NATIONAL TREASURE  Aug 05, 2007
By Don Belton
Here is an artist with the courage and conviction to go her own way in music, life and vision. What a blessing it is to follow her over the years! I have owned this album since its release. Every time I listen I am struck with wonder by her wonderfully nuanced readings of these songs. Abbey Lincoln is more than a singer and an actress. Abbey Lincoln is a national treasure. Let's celebrate her and her music while we still have her.

5Ms. Lincoln at her best  Jan 28, 2009
By Darren La Salle
Abbey Lincoln is at the top of her form here. The songs she penned are beautiful and heartfelt.. "The River" is one of my favorite tracks on this album and it is also the most fun. The cover of "Mr. Tamborine Man" is quintencentially Abbey Lincoln.

5proof of type of singing abbey can't be beaten at  Jul 16, 1999

abbey lincoln has a very recognizable voice and phrasing. You either love it or not but she best at it. Most of her cd's sound a like however, and to be surprising every new cd she should come up with an unexpected angle to her wide capacities which she unarguably has. i can listen to her endlessly but she needs to be refreshing for a wider audience.
